Algeria was a positive surprise with visits to both Oran, the hometown of Albert Camus, as well as the capital Algiers. The cities were however quite run down with very little maintenance over the years from the french era. It was also quite difficult to find decent restaurants, even though we selected the top rated places. Only a very few of them serve alcohol (bah, not a got start). We stayed at the landmark hotel Saint George - today renamed El Djazair. Amazing place, and once THE meeting place of the rich and famous.
