The main reason for me coming to Guyana was to see the Kaiture waterfalls up in the jungle. The only way to get there was to fly in with a small prop-airplane. These flights only fly when there is enough people to fill up an aircraft (6 is the magic number!). I waited around for a couple of days in Georgetown - the capital - but eventually I had to give it up. I hired a guide instead who took me up into the interior. We went as far a as possible, first by car and then continued up-river by boat. This was interesting, visiting old Dutch forts in ruins and old missions still in operation far from developed areas.
