Azerbajdzjan

2011 The Caucasus (cover page).png

The first leg of doing the "Silk road trail" started with Armenia, Georgia and Azerbadijan (The Caucasus). Azerbajdzjan was last in line, after crossing the border from Georgia. Here we traveled along the Caucasus mountain ridge in the background - absolutely stunning view. I made a stop at Sheki, a cultural and important town on route to Baku. Here I stayed overnight at an old Karavanserai. This lodge is over 200 years old and was used by camel caravans traveling along the old silk road with goods. The last stop on this stretch was Baku on the Caspian Sea. See the travel report to the left and also the video under separate Video-section.
