Back in the years 2006 and 2007, I managed a company where we decided to set-up an assembly production facility in Teheran, Iran. This meant a few trips to the capital of Iran. I unfortunately did not have time to see anything of this supposedly beautiful country filled with amazing architectural sites. The few shots are from a mobile phone hence the poor quality. There is a trip penciled in my travel-plans hopefully in the not so distant future. My main takeaway from these trips are the hard-working, dedicated and friendly people.

The capital, Bujumbura, does not have much to offer in terms of sightseeing, hotels or restaurants. Furthermore it is quite a shabby provincial town, more than a country capital, which is also unsafe to wander about in. We witnessed this first hand as I was mugged at the local market. The local shop-owners together with local police however managed to catch the thief. His clothes was quickly ripped. He was then given a real beating. Not very pleasant to watch. We took our leave and disappeared out to the more quite beach area on lake Tanganyika where we spend a couple of relaxing days. Our visa was not valid for the full length of our stay so we had to pay our way to get through customs and emigrations. One security guard guided us through all stations for a mere 10 usd.
