Back in the years 2006 and 2007, I managed a company where we decided to set-up an assembly production facility in Teheran, Iran. This meant a few trips to the capital of Iran. I unfortunately did not have time to see anything of this supposedly beautiful country filled with amazing architectural sites. The few shots are from a mobile phone hence the poor quality. There is a trip penciled in my travel-plans hopefully in the not so distant future. My main takeaway from these trips are the hard-working, dedicated and friendly people.

On the third attempt, I managed to see the Matzés Expedition come through. A lot of work had gone into the planning and getting the approval from not only the authority to visit this endangered indigenous group of people, but also a confirmation from the tribe elders themselves. And what a journey it was. It exceeded everyones highest expectations. The group consisted of eight who had signed up and four from the operator including the tour-leader, a cook, a boat operator and a hunter/interpreter. We travelled four days only to get from Lima to the final destination - the Matzés Maloka in the dense jungle of the Amazon. We stayed almost a week with the small and very secluded group of Matzés indians in the Yavari valley of Peru.
